Metaroom Enhances B2B Spatial Capture with New 2D Export Features

Introduction of Enhanced Features

Metaroom, a service developed by Amrax, recently unveiled advanced 2D export functionalities within its spatial data capture toolkit aimed particularly at the construction and property sectors. This latest development facilitates the conversion of 3D digital maps of indoor spaces into 2D floorplans, optimizing usability for professionals in these industries.

Significance for Industry Professionals

Highlighting the significance of this update, Amrax’s CEO, Martin Huber, remarked on the foundational role of 2D floorplans in documentation, planning, and communication within the architecture, design, and real estate fields. He noted:

“2D floorplans remain the foundation for project documentation, planning, and communication amongst architects, designers, real estate, and construction professionals, ensuring that every detail is captured and understood.”

Meeting the high demand for 2D export capabilities was a strategic move to cater to industry expectations and enhance the tool’s practicality.

Advancements and Functionalities

Huber elaborated on the feedback-driven nature of this launch:

“We’ve received numerous requests for 2D export formats, so we’re excited to offer this option for 2D-floor plans alongside our existing 3D exports. By introducing this 2D-floor plan capability in combination with our powerful 3D technology, we are opening up new possibilities for design. This gives professionals even greater control and insight into their projects, allowing them to plan spaces and share them across various export formats easily.”

The integration of this feature enables users to capture indoor spaces on a 1:1 scale using compatible iPhone Pro or iPad Pro models. After completing the scan, professionals can export their spatial captures as 2D floor plans and in various other formats such as AutoCAD, Chief Architect, 2D DXF, and PDF.

An additional benefit is the integration of context-relevant data into different sections of the spatial capture, thus enhancing the overall digital mapping experience. The cloud infrastructure of Metaroom allows seamless access from any end device.

Strategic Partnership with Palette CAD

Earlier this year, Amrax forged a strategic partnership with Palette CAD, an eminent interior design software firm. This collaboration has significantly boosted Metaroom’s usability by integrating Palette CAD’s advanced features.

Dirk Böckstiegel, Director of Business Development and Export at Palette CAD AG, highlighted: “The interaction between Metaroom and Palette CAD is a prime example of how software can adapt to the user today. Scanning a room on-site at the customer’s premises using a smartphone and seamlessly switching to 3D planning takes the ease and efficiency of the consultation phase to a new level.”

Palette CAD empowers users to create accurate 3D scans, enabling efficient project presentations, material orders, and blueprint creations. It also leverages LiDAR-ready cameras on Apple Pro devices to digitize spaces effectively.

The partnership facilitates direct transfer of 3D designs from Palette CAD to the Metaroom application, enhancing accessibility and fostering innovative, sustainable designs. Additionally, this alliance complements Amrax’s partnerships with companies like Relux, Ranplan, Autodesk, and Siemens, further extending the capabilities of their XR solutions.
